Alpaca biosecurity

The onus for the health and welfare of alpacas (and other livestock) on your farm is, and has always been, up to you, the owner/manager. On 1 October 2017, all cattle, sheep and goat farmers are required to implement a biosecurity program for their animals and property. In line with this, here is a camelid-specific template (Biosecurity template v2) you can use on your farm. Download, print on A3, laminate and put up in a prominent place. Work your way through it and implement improvements step-by-step, month-by-month, season-by-season, year-by-year. You and your animals will benefit from improved husbandry, health and welfare across your farm and herd.

(Alternatively, you may use Animal Health Australia’s generic template.)
